I’m the kind of person that wants to get from point A to point B right now. If I suspect there is a better way to do something (or a better way to rearrange my living room), I want it done now, and I don’t want to wait. So when I first took the plunge into the world of essential oils, I wanted a revolution. A revolution of mind and body wellness for the whole family…better health, better sleep, better moods. You might say that my expectations were high! I’m not afraid of a little bit of risk, but at about $160 all-in initial investment, I didn’t have too much to lose.

Fast forward three months, and I’ve been enjoying the “oily life,” as they say, and though the revolution has been a quiet one, it’s happening. I was prepared for a dramatic result of some kind, specifically this one: “oh wow, my son finally sleeps through the night, thanks to essential oils!” (He does not.) But even so, the oils have affected our lives in more subtle (yet just as true) ways.
This is my “stepping into essential oils” testimony.
After I started using essential oils, for a little while, I was thinking that maybe they weren’t working for me. Since I had been expecting a revolution and all, you know, I didn’t see fireworks, and so I thought something was off. But then I came to realize that in every instance when I have been choosing oils to treat an ailment or to address an emotion, before I have long enough to even think about it again, my condition has been helped, or my emotions have been affected.
For instance, after I use one of my roller bottles to roll on one of my essential oil blends when I have a headache, then somewhere in the next 20-30 minutes…my head doesn’t hurt so much anymore. I probably even forgot I ever had a headache until I recall rolling the oils on earlier. When I roll on some particular essential oils diluted in fractionated coconut oil when I’m feeling pain…before I realize it, I’m focused on the next thing I need to do in my day and have forgotten about how much I was hurting before (game changer). When I’m feeling a little too stressed or a little too tired, I drop a couple of oils into my home diffuser, and before I realize it, I’m feeling a more uplifted or a more alert.
One of my biggest wins so far has been in strengthening our immune systems. Since I started using the Young Living Thieves essential oil blend to support a healthy immune system for me and my son, we have stopped getting sick all the time like we had been before. We had been on a once-a-month sniffles and scratchy throat kick for quite a while and I really wasn’t sure what to do about it. Since we’ve been using thieves, we’ve hardly been sick at all, and when we have, it seems to pass by more quickly.
And all of a sudden, I understood why they say that essential oils “support” your body and your emotions in so many ways. [Revolution.]
Once I realized all this was going on right under my nose (literally!), that was it. I started ordering more oils and searching every day for ideas about which oils support which emotions, which oils help to support which health issues, what kind of essential oil blends to put together into my well-loved roller bottles. Just everything essential oils. I want to know it, and I want to try it.
As it turns out, a radical baby sleep solution I did not find (yet), but the essential oils revolution is alive and well in my house, and I am truly only just beginning. Care to join me? I don’t doubt for a second that there are a list of ways that essential oils can support you and your family, too. Here are my current favorite ways to use essential oils (all Young Living essential oils):
Roller blends
Immune-boosting roller // Thieves essential oil blend, diluted in fractionated coconut oil. Rolled onto my feet.
Smooth Skin roller // Frankincense essential oil, diluted in jojoba oil. I roll this onto my face daily to support healthy skin, and the grounding scent is an added bonus.
Wake Up roller // Peppermint essential oil, diluted in fractionated coconut oil. Rolled onto my wrists and back of neck.
Toddler Sleepy-time roller // Lavender, Cedarwood, and Orange essential oils, Peace & Calming essential oil blend, diluted in fractionated coconut oil. Rolled onto the chest and feet.
(Each blend mixed together in an amber or cobalt glass roller bottle with metal roller ball.)
For the diffuser
Happy citrus mood-booster blend // Bergamot and Grapefruit essential oils
Perk Up blend // Lemon and Peppermint essential oils
Relax blend // Lavender and Cedarwood essential oils
(Pictured above is this diffuser.)
DIY recipes

After getting the essential oils into my home, next in importance to me has been gaining a thriving online community of people who are also loving essential oils and continually sharing their ideas and experiences with one another.
By joining with Young Living as a wholesale member, I was immediately plugged in to a welcoming and sharing community of other oil users, most much more experienced in using oils than me. From my direct sponsor, who is always available for questions and who reaches out to share specifically with me to make sure I am in the loop of information, to the greater team of community members in our Facebook groups who are asking and answering questions every day, there is so much knowledge being shared and so many ideas to try right at my fingertips. I love that. It’s such a relief to know that I don’t have to try to figure it all out on my own and to be able to learn from the experience of others. It’s a community of people who are uplifting and encouraging, and truly inspiring.

You know the feeing when you’ve just been somewhere so good that you have to tell all your friends and everyone one you see about it, so they can love it, too? That’s what essential oils with Young Living are to me. I will have my first opportunity to talk with a group of friends about essential oils at a make-and-take party this week. I am nervous about making a presentation (oh, public speaking, we meet again!), but I am so glad to get a chance to share with these friends about my experience with essential oils and to find out how they can be supported by essential oils, too. What a privilege, really.
